LWL works with government to strengthen technical and vocational education so that learners can acquire practical skills for employment, enterprise and further education. In Sierra Leone, improving the quality and relevance of these pathways is important to developing the skilled workforce needed to support economic growth and national development.
LWL supports teacher training and stronger links between technical and vocational institutions and employers, helping to ensure that training reflects the skills required in the labour market. It also supports improvements in the collection and use of data on enrolment, completion and graduate outcomes to inform planning and monitor results. Through this work, LWL contributes to a technical and vocational education system that is responsive to labour market needs, effectively managed and accessible to learners, supporting the Government’s ambition to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to contribute to national development.
